Scholarships Awarded To Branch County Students
COLDWATER ― Infinisource, Inc., a nationally recognized expert in compliance and benefit solutions, has awarded two $1,000 scholarships. The winners are Benjamin Tubbs and Taylor Wendorf, both of Coldwater.
One scholarship is awarded to a relative of an Infinisource employee, and the other to a Branch County resident. Applicants must submit a short essay on the Infinisource mission statement: "Every person we come in contact with is the single most important person in that moment." All identifying information is removed prior to the review of the essays. A committee that has no affiliation to the students then chooses the winners.
The Branch County scholarship was awarded to Tubbs, the son of Harold and Brenda Tubbs. He plans on attending on attending Western Michigan University in the fall to pursue a degree in aviation science.
Some of Tubbs' extracurricular activities include music and audio visual interests. He is a member of the National Honor Society and has been named student of the month at Coldwater High School. He has been active in the community by assisting senior citizens with raking leaves, worked with Habitat for Humanity building homes and has participated in church mission trips to provide food and clothing for those in need.
"Respect in a relationship between two people is essential," explained Tubbs in his application. "By continuing to place customers first, a business has the possibility of being the best in its field."
Wendorf was named the winner of the scholarship awarded to a family member of an Infinisource employee. She is the daughter of Tammy and Steve Wendorf of Coldwater. Tammy is a Customer Response representative at Infinisource. Taylor plans on attending Saginaw Valley University in the fall to study nursing.
Wendorf has been active in track, cross country and bowling while a student at Coldwater High School. She was named a regional finalist for the Health Occupations Students of America, has been a team captain and an honor roll student. She has provided hours of service as a volunteer at the Community Health Center of Branch County.
"As I sat in the emergency room rocking the beautiful baby boy, I quietly wondered if his parents would be okay," Wendorf wrote in her application. "I am a volunteer at the Community Health Center of Branch County and on that November day, I made that baby the single most important person."
"I’m very proud of the fact we’ve been able to award these scholarships," said Gary Hart, Infinisource President and CEO. "Our work as a nationally-recognized company is challenging and rewarding. But the ability to do that from a hometown base like Coldwater is priceless. The combination works because the community supports us. We wanted to give some of that success back."
